Licensing & Background
Vetting and licensing of every gaming employee, vendor, and management contractor through rigorous background investigation.
The Buena Vista Gaming Commission is the independent regulatory authority that safeguards fair play, sound conduct, and public trust across tribal gaming in Ione, California.
Established by the Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians, the Commission operates independently of gaming operations to regulate every facet of gaming on tribal land, under federal law, the Tribal-State Compact, and the Tribe's own gaming ordinance.
Every responsibility we hold serves one purpose: gaming that is honest, secure, and worthy of the community's confidence.
Vetting and licensing of every gaming employee, vendor, and management contractor through rigorous background investigation.
Continuous monitoring of internal controls, financial reporting, and adherence to minimum regulatory standards.
Safeguarding guests through dispute resolution, fair-play assurance, and self-exclusion and responsible-gaming programs.
Oversight of surveillance systems and gaming integrity to detect, deter, and investigate irregular activity.
Authority to investigate violations, hold hearings, and take corrective and disciplinary action to uphold the rules.
Maintaining accurate regulatory records and reporting to tribal, state, and federal authorities as required.
The Commission provides independent regulatory oversight of Harrah's Northern California, the Tribe's gaming and entertainment facility that opened in 2019 and is managed under license by Caesars Entertainment. Our review touches every point where the guest, the game, and the operator meet.
“Regulation is not the opposite of hospitality, it is its foundation. Trust is what lets the games go on.” , The Buena Vista Gaming Commission
